Bilateral Relations

Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations is concurrently accredited with following three countries:

  1. Republic of Guatemala
  2. Republic of El Salvador
  3. Republic of Peru

H.E. Masud Bin Momen already presented his credentials as non-resident Ambassador to all three countries. This Mission has been trying to promote trade interests and provide consular assistances with its modest resources and limited scopes. Negotiations are ongoing to finalize the bilateral visa waver agreements for diplomatic and service passports with Guatemala and Peru. In order to embolden the diplomatic presence of Bangladesh, honorary consuls have been appointed in all three countries.

With all three countries of concurrent accreditation Bangladesh enjoys a very friendly bilateral relationship. Scopes of bilateral trade are not fully explored yet. With Guatemala, there are scopes to promote export – import in cardamom and jute bags. In El Salvador, Bangladeshi businessmen may explore the scopes of investment in RMG sector. We need to strengthen our consular efforts in Peru.

Permanent Mission also pursue diplomatic relations with those countries that are not concurrently accredited to any of our Missions abroad. In recent time, this mission has facilitated establishing bilateral ties with Panama, Palau, Kosovo and San Marino. With Solomon Islands, establishment of bilateral relationship is under official process.
