New York, 25 March, 2018:
Today, at Bangladesh Consulate General’s Auditorium in New York, the officers and staff members of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations and the Consulate General in New York along with their family rendered in correct tune the National Anthem ‘Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tumay Bhalobasi..’ in chorus at 10 pm local time simultaneously with the rendering of the same at the Independence and National Day ceremony at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka in presence of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina .
Holding aloft the National Flag, all of the participants in a festive mood crooned the National Anthem in the presence of the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen and Consul General of Bangladesh’s Consulate in New York Md. Shameem Ahsan. Huge number of expatriate Bangladeshis of New York joined the event and the auditorium turned into a ‘mini Bangladesh’. Among others, the President of US Awami League Dr. Siddikur Rahman, freedom fighter and singer of ‘Shadin Bangla Betar Kendro’ Shahid Hasan and a large of expatriate Bangladeshi singers and cultural activists were also present at this auspicious occasion.
It was a joint event of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations and the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York.
